After graduating from Jimma University Law School with a Bachelor of Law, Kibreab Abera has served in different positions for the last ten years. He has previously served as assistant Judge and judges in the S.N.N.P.R.S. Supreme Court, and as Executive Director of Transparency International Ethiopia (TIE). Kibreab Abera works as: a senior lawyer at Cherokee Consulting P.L.C., Senior Consultant at Verdant Consulting P.L.C., Deputy General Manager of Parker Clay Ethiopia, and is Transparency International Ethiopia (TIE) Income Generating Activity (IGA) Manager. Kibreab Abera is also the Founder and owner of Kibreab Abera Lomencho Attorney and Consultant at Law Office, a legal consultancy office serving companies in Ethiopia.

In addition to his board role at Transparency International Ethiopia (TIE), Kibreab Abera has served as Executive Board Member at Ethiopia Mekane Yesus Pension and Investment Commission and continues to serve as Advisory Board Member at Parker Clay Global, and as Executive Board Member at Inspired Ethiopia Youth Association.
